Welcome to Year 5/6 Silver Base
Miss Wells, Mrs Winch and Miss Mylett welcome you to Silver Base!
We are a bespoke Nurture provision that helps to meet children’s specific needs. We help children fill gaps in their learning, build confidence, enhance their social skills and guide them to regulate their emotions.
During the morning sessions, we cover phonics, spelling, reading, English and Maths. We recognise the importance of developing social skills and even enjoy a delicious daily brunch also! Here, the children learn life skills in food preparation; setting the table and tidying up afterwards in addition to sitting together and enjoying each other’s’ company while we eat.
During the afternoons, we have lots of opportunities for social learning such as improving communication skills and developing healthy relationships. We focus on social skills and emotional awareness through lots of games and activities where we provide positive role models. The children develop their team building skills and work on problem solving. We practise listening and so, every child gets the opportunity to be listened to.
In Silver Base, the children learn academically and socially and develop confidence; become responsive to others; learn self-respect and take pride in behaving well and in achieving.
During Half term six, we will be reading 'The Boy at the Back of the Class' and learning all about migration.
