Health Week
Monday 18th May- Friday 22nd May
Dear Parents/Carers,
We are pleased to announce that we will be holding our annual Health Week next week. Children will learn about the importance of keeping active, eating well, keeping hydrated, going to bed on time and much more. KRS and Westfield Sports Leaders will be helping us in our quest to keep the children of Reignhead as healthy as they can be! We will be ending the week with our annual Sports Day – hopefully the weather will be kind to us and we’ll be needing sun cream and water bottles rather than umbrellas! If it cannot go ahead on this day it has been planned in for 5th June.
In order that Health Week can be a success and as active as possible, please send your child to school in their Reignhead Primary School PE uniform each day. It is important that all children follow the school rules and expectations and that they are sent to school in the correct clothing – fashion items and football kits are not permitted. Long hair also needs to be tied back and earrings must be removed.
*Plain black shorts/jogging bottoms
*Plain black hoody/sports top
*Black plimsolls/trainers
*Plain team colour t-shirt (or plain black or white if this is in the wash!)
Nursery children (who don't yet have a formal PE kit) need to come to their sessions in sportswear and trainers suitable for taking part in sporting activities.
We really hope that this will be an enjoyable week for the children and give them a great start to the final half term of the year.
Sports Day - Friday 22nd May
Children from Year 1 to Year 6
Sports Day will start at 9:30am. Throughout the morning, the children will compete within their classes at various stations around Reignhead field, collecting points for their teams. Children will wear their coloured t-shirts to show which house team they are representing (Yellow Diamonds, Green Emeralds, Red Rubies or Blue Sapphires).
The timings of the morning will run as follows:
*9:15 – Parents/carers are invited to gather on the field, remaining behind the tape.
*9:30 - Children will be taken to the field by staff.
*9:30- 11:30 - Sporting activities take place. Pupils will remain in their register classes and move around the activities.
*11:45pm - ALL pupils MUST return to their classrooms in their class groups led by a staff member.
Reminders
* Parents/carers MUST NOT go under the barriers at any time
* Children MUST NOT go under the barriers at any time even if it is to speak to a parent. This is to ensure the safe supervision of all our children – it is very difficult for staff to supervise their class effectively if children are encouraged to go under the barriers by their adults.
*Sun cream should be applied before pupils come to school; parents/carers of Nursery children are encouraged to reapply sun cream if required.
*As usual, children needing inhalers should carry them with them during the event.
*During this event, please support us by not smoking, vaping or bringing pets on to the field.
Nursery and Reception Sports Day – Wednesday 20h May
Nursery and Reception Children
Sports Day will start at 10:30am. Children who do not usually attend Nursery on a Wednesday morning are welcome to join us on Reignhead field but must be accompanied by their parents/carers. The children will enjoy a variety of traditional Sports Day activities and should wear suitable sportswear and trainers. At 11:15am approx. children will return to their classroom.
