Letter from Chris Corker (Chair of Governors)22 April 2026 (by admin) |
Dear Parents and Carers,
I am writing to you today with regards to a number of disruptive incidents which have occurred across school in recent weeks, and subsequently a number of posts which have been made on social media regarding this. These incidents and ongoing disruption are of a major concern to the school leadership and the board of governors and help and advice are being sought from a range of stakeholders connected to the school, including Learn Sheffield, the Local Education Authority and in particular the Attendance and Inclusion Team at Sheffield Council. After meeting in person today with the school leadership team I remain assured of the quality of their leadership and that they have the well-being and the quality educational experience of all pupils at the forefront of their decision making and their approach to day to day activities of the school. Please understand that the quality of teaching remains high at the school and the well being of all pupils and staff remains paramount for the board of governors oversight role and in their decision making.
I hope that you appreciate that the nuance and complexity of all these situations goes well beyond what can be communicated in a Facebook post, and that stories passed between people can distort and take on a life of their own from their point of origin to communication to parents several hours later. I encourage you to be mindful of social media and its uses and misuses.
The school leadership will continue to uphold the Reignhead behaviour policy, which can be found on the school website. Please be assured that this is followed in all behavioural incidences, and that not all decisions and actions taken regarding behaviour will be communicated or visible to parents or pupils.
Finally, myself and the board of governors support use of the formal complaints process should you feel the need to use it. Complaints are brought to the school leadership team and to governors when appropriate, and ensure a timely and appropriate response to any issues which have been raised and reported. Only when this has been exhausted should complaints be escalated beyond the school.
Should you have any further concerns please feel able to communicate with the school leadership team and the board of governors directly as well.
With best wishes, Chris Corker (Chair, Board of Governors).
